Vase bought at car boot sale sells for £32,450
A vase that was bought for £1 by an anonymous woman at a boot sale in Dumfries has been sold at auction for £32,450.
The true value of the car boot item emerged at the filiming of an episode of the TV programme, Antiques Roadshow. Experts identified it as the work of French designer René Lalique whose work has become increasingly collectable.
It was then put up for auction by Christies of London on the 12th of November 2008 where it fetched £32,450.
Half price stalls at new Harpenden boot sale this weekend
The new hard standing car boot sale at Harpenden Train Station car park opens this Sunday, the 26th of October 2008.And to celebrate, all pitches will be half price.
A car pitch will cost just £5 instead of the normal £10 and a van size pitch will cost just £7.50.
The car boot sale will take place every sunday from 8am to 2pm (except Christmas) and there is room for 400 traders.

Drawings found at boot sale expected to fetch £6,000
Drawings bought at a car boot sale for £10 two years ago are expected to fetch up to £6,000 when they go on sale at auction on the 15th of October 2008.
The three drawings of Auchenbothie Lodge in Kilmalcolm, Renfrewshire were done by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the famous Scottish architecht and designer.
They were found in a bag of items bought for just £10 at a car boot sale in Glasgow and go on sale at Bonham's in Edinburgh where they are expected to sell for betwen £4,000 and £6,000.
£400 raised by Air Ambulance volunteers at car boot sale
Congratulations to the staff of John Taylor Funeralcare who raised money for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance at a recent car boot sale.
Selling from no less than five vehicles including a camper van, the staff members managed to raise more than £400 for the local air paramedic operation that is voluntary run.
Nurses hold car boot sale to raise money for hospital in Nepal
Two nurses from the Isle of Arran in Scotland are holding a car boot sale on Easter Sunday (March the 22nd) to raise funds to help set up a hospital in Nepal.
The boot sale takes place at the Balmichael Visitor Centre in Shiskine on the Isle of Arran (KA27 8DT for all you sat navvers) between 10am and 12 noon, with sellers arriving from 9.30am ( £5 per car pitch).
Sally Bambridge and Pearl White will spend three weeks in Baruwa, in the Helambu region of Nepal, north of Kathmandu, helping set up a hospital for people who currently have no such facilities in the area.
£2 car boot sale LP sells for £4,000
An autographed Rolling Stones album bought at a car boot sale in Derbyshire has sold at auction for £4,000!
The 1976 Black and Blue LP Experts think the album was bought at a car boot sale for just £2 - after the buyer managed to get a pound knocked off the asking price. It was only later that he realised that thje sleeve had been signed by not onlty members of the Stones, bnut also John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Paul and Linda McCartney and George Harrison.
The LP was sold at auction last month by Bamfords auctioneers for £4,000.

Woodley Shopping Centre boot sales to end?
The monthly car boot sales held at Woodley Shopping Centre in Woodley, Berkshire, may be at an end with no plans in place to hold them there in 2008.
Normally ten sales are held every year - none take place in November or December because of the Woodley Winter Extravaganza and Christmas. The current organiser pays Woodley Town Centre’s Management Initiative £200 a year to hire the site, but has no plans to run boot sales at the shopping centre next year.
Three sales have had to be cancelled this year because of bad weather and that together with competition from other local boot sales meant that the organiser actually lost money during 2007 - hence the decision not to continue when the sales are due to restart in January.
Football medal bought at car boot sale sells for £6,400
A Champions League winning football medal that was bought for £10 at a car boot sale in London has sold at auction for a whopping £6,400!
The medal, which dates from Manchester United's Champions League winning 1996-97 season, was bought as part of a box of trinkets for just £10 at a boot sale in Peckham, South East London.
After discovering the medal in the box, the anonymous buyer took it to an auction house who confirmed it was genuine.
And when it went under the hammer at an auction in Ludlow, Shropshire, at the start of October it sold for £6,400!

Kidderminster boot sale gets go ahead at Swan Centre
The Swan Centre in Kidderminster is to be home to a new boot sale following approval from Wyre Forest District Council for car boot sales to take place on Sundays throughout the year with the exception of Easter Sunday.
The car boot sale will be held over three floors of the multi-storey car park between 8am and 1.30pm. As well as 62 pitches for cars and small vans, space will be made available for tables for anyone without a car to set up stall.
The boot sales will start from January 2008, but there will also be two sales in November - on the 4th and the 18th. To pre-book a pitch call 01562 753210.

Council says no to extra car boot sale dates at Wigginton
A request to increase the number of car boot sales held at Home Farm in Corban Lane, Wigginton, has been turned down by City of York Council.
Organisers, Ken and Adele Roberts, had wanted to increase the number of boot sales held on their farm from 14 to 20 a year, but council officials opposed the move on the grounds that it would lead to traffic problems in the area.
When the proposal was put to the vote at the startof June, the planning committee was split down the middle, with seven councilors voting to allow more car boot sales and seven voting against - includingthe committee chairman who had the casting vote.
The Roberts have held car boot sales at Home Farm in Wigginton for 16 years and regularly attract 200 stallholders and 2,000 buyers.
